A while back ATT@home was offering three months cable internet for 19.95/month including modem rental. My three months were ending, I called (it's now ATTBI) to cancel, and the agent offered me another three months at the same price. So if you got that deal and want to bluff, you might be rewarded. Sorry if this idea is too obvious...

i got 6 months, which is ending next month. I'm going to call and try to cancel, but if they offer me something like that I just might have to accept :)

i got in on the $20/month promotion back in november and realized in january that i was being charged the full $45.95. at&t claims there was no such promotion and won't give my money back. anyone have any proof (ie. email or mailer) showing the promotion? anything would be much appreciated. email me at wsoung@hotmail.com. thanks.

william.

Stick to your guns. AT&T@Home did the same thing to a friend of mine. I called the customer service for her since she wasn't good at English and they said they couldn't refund the last month's payment but agreed to start the advertised promotion from the time of the call, at the time the promotion was 6 months for $20. My friend was satisfied with that.

Have her keep an eye on the bill.

I set up an account using the 6 moths for $19.95 offer, and a month or so before the @Home fiasco, they double-billed me the normal rate.

Their response was somewhat similar, "We can't refund your money", and I informed them I'd call the utilities commisiion about it and file a complaint.

The result? A credit for the amount spent, plus an additional 2 months gratis.

Don't let the monopolistic bastages get you down.

I have the current mailer with the same offer, sent even though I have a current account.

(And no, I'm not e-mailing it to anyone. IMO, if you make a request, you ought to stick around to see it filled, not ask for white glove delivery.)
