ExpressCard SSD Performance Comparison

So, I am interested in upgrading the performance of my MacBook Pro with a SSD drive. There are several options available to consider, including ExpressCard based SSD's. However, I cannot seem to find any data on random write performance on the net, and after Anadtech's article about SSD's I'm more careful about choosing a good SSD.

So, does anyone on these forums have any experience with ExpressCard SSD's? Has anyone here used it as a boot drive?

i wouldnt get one.

the expresscard is linked to the pci-e bus at 1x link speed.
this is also true if you decide to get a mini pci-e card ssd.

get a real ssd for real gains.
 
expresscard SSD "drives" are the bastard child of USB thumb drives. they ARE NOT bootable, aka, you cannot install your OS on it. They are also really really slow. And unlike USB thumb drives they cannot be U3 or anything else... basically they are the absolutely worse type of solid state media you can get... a USB thumb drive is abetter idea.

Do yourself a favor, either get an intel X25-M, or an indlinx SSD, or just stick with your current drive.
