Ok yesterday, I had to go a to Walmart b/c I needed a new car battery. It was ~9:30PM and Walmart was the only store that would be open at that time.

I reached there ~9:45pm (store closes at 10PM). Quickly ran to grab the battery, picked it up, and walked fast back to the checkout. Went to the Express Checkout lane since i only had one item.

And this couple was standing in-front of me in the Express lane checkout with atleast ~35-40 small items in their cart...i was like WTF ? I guess some people just can't read ? And the cashier did not say anything to them also.

Then, when the cashier were ringing their stuff, they decided that they wanted 2 different receipts. On top of that, they asked the cashier for prices for like ~5-7 different items. Don't people actually read the prices when picking up the stuff before putting them in their cart ??

It took the cashier ~20 min to ring up this couple (b/c they would ask for prices, wanted to ring some items separately, etc etc).

[/RANT] :(

I wanted to tell that couple to go to another regular line but store was closing and I didnt want to create a scene (resulting in further delay for me).

Sometimes the checker will ask the person from the other lane to come into their express checkout. They do this when they have no one there but the other lanes have a line.

I had this happen the other day. Then some people go behind me. I was like ahhh crap these people behind me are going to think I'm a total arse now lol.

So you see you may be getting pissed at people that did nothing wrong. Plus the store is closing they probably just wanted to get all the people they could through the lines as fast they could to get them out.

the store had ~3 Express lanes (each w/ atleast ~4-7 ppl with less than 10 items) and ~4 Regular lanes w/ ~10 ppl with many items.

there were ~3 ppl infront of this couple when I joined the Express Line. So the checker did not call them. They joined the line on their own.

They were reading chubbywallet & saw some grocery rebates/discontinues/markdowns. Happens at Stop n Shop all the time. You buy $10 worth of xx & on the back of your receipt is a coupon for $5 off your next $10 of xx. Then they try to use that same coupon on the second half of the goods.

I've come to understand that for some people, shopping is entertainment. For them to have a quick, efficient trip through the store and the checkout would be like if you went to a theater and they showed the movie at 20% faster than normal speed. You'd just feel like you got a bit cheated out of your full entertainment experience.

Especially people that go to Wally World.

I completely suck at picking fast lines when i go shopping, so i usually just pick the longer looking lines now since they always seem to move just as fast.

I refuse to go to Walmart. Unless they have what I want to buy for a couple hundred dollars less at least, I will not go there.

Several reasons:

Employees seem to be ridiculously slow and incompetent.

It's always extremely crowded there, and the crowd are the people on lower end of the civilized spectrum.

It's like a damn flea market in there.

LIke I said, so unless Im going to save a lot of money by shopping at Walmart, I'll go to Target, where the prices are a bit higher, but it's definetly worth it when you factor in better employees, cleaner store, more "civilized" customers in store, faster checkout.
