This sniper dude, is a shocking example of what happens when one has free will and fire arms. What immediately went thru my head was, what if, there are 100's or 1000's of "sleeper terrorists", basically watching, so see if he can continue to pull off these snipes?

Once "they" see that it's possible, what if they decide to start killing 2 per day, while increasing the number that are doing the killing. It's a very scary, but possible thing. :(

I think it's an unfortunate stroke of luck for this guy... don't think many other sprees could continue on like this has.

Yeah, i was really shocked when i heard about it. I thought, he's gonna be hard to catch, because he's using a sniper he could be anywhere.

But they've found a link with a white van that seems to be seen at the place where people are shot.. so hopefully he'll get caught.. million dollar reward i heard? I'd be in for it if i lived in America!

Every time I get in my car and drive away I'm putting myself at a thousand times more to a fatal accident than to dying in any terrorist attack. Dang people, get a grip. Terrorism's purpose is to terrorize. The terrorist knows how to play weak minds. He can't do his job if you're mind is the stronger one. I just swept the area around my bunker through heavy lenses. Relax, there's nothing around.

The police pulled over every van they could find on friday and it didn't help, there are about 5 million white vans in the DC metro area. He picked a good get away vehicle.

While driving around the Sonoco on Balls Ford Road today, I noticed a white van. Then another. Then another. Then another. In one parking lot alone in a small industrial complex near by I saw no less than 5 white vans, with several more across the street. These all happened to be the mini-van type, not the box trucks. I saw several of those too. A white van/box truck is not a great clue.

I was referring to a sniper-style shooting spree. Last I checked, the Zodiac killer wasn't a sniper.

Wait until someone figures out the carnage he can cause with a few bags of fertilizer, a gallon each of fuel oil and racing fuel, and a #8 blasting cap. Hell, for that matter, he could just....x 100 different things, all much nastier than a gun.

I've been speculating about this exact type of killing spree for 20 years and am very surprised it has not happened before.

Even on the battlefield the sniper is the most feared soldier.

Hundreds of soldiers have been pinned down for days by a lone sniper and his spotter. There is no real defense against this on the battlefield or in our communities.

As you've seen, the police are largely ineffective. Oh, he will be caught, but by accident rather than design.

The question you pose can only be answered as time passes and the future becomes the past.

actually i remember seeing something on a student sniper on a university campus clock tower in the 50's or 60's that decided to just pick a ton of people off. eventually he got taken down by some brave people that stormed the tower. so crazy peeps were around always:p and we have short memories:p

i think it was in texas too. mem is so fuzzy.

That guy was in a tower on a university. The police lacked effective weapons to use as counterfire. In other words, they had no rifle that could equal the range of the shooter. Armed Citizens then brought their privately owned weapons in to play, holding the shooter's head down with return fire while Police rushed him and ended the threat.

Quite a different set of circumstances....

First, there are a lot of police chiefs involved in this case. This guy has shot people in four different counties in two states, as well as D.C. Second, if your talking about Chief Moose of Montgomery County, the guy is a cop, not a politician. He's doing just fine.

Agree, if all terrorists decided to just one day start shooting all over the US. We're screwed.

I was thinking a sinister plan would be for terrorists to snipe people at random in a selected city. If they are close to getting caugt they just blow themselves up along with the police and everyone around. As soon as that cell was done, move to the next city.

Then again, I still think the sniper is one lone American.
