Explosions in the Sky / Mogwai

I just got on their respective bandwagons...really digging them...I am I alone? If not, what else do you guys listen to?

oops..sorry for the confusion. They are two bands. I think they've both been around awhile but each of their latest releases are very good.

Sorry, I typed that before you clarified what the hell you were talking about. Your first post made absolutely no sense to someone that hasn't heard these bands before. Since I didn't see your followup until after I posted, I decided to leave it as it was.

EITS is from Austin... awesome stuff! They're coming here (Lawrence, KS) to play a show in a couple of weeks so I'm excited about that.

Mogwai... yeah their awesomeness goes without saying!

The genre you're talking about is loosely called "Post Rock". If you're looking for some similar bands try Tortoise, Godspeed You Black Emperor, and Sigur Ros.

Both excellent bands.

I own just about every Mogwai albulm there is. Without a doubt they get their fair time in Winamp and in my car. I'm glad to see there are more people on AT who like them.

I am really into the whole Post-Rock thing going on now, and as Luv2Chill said check out some Godspeed or Sigur Ros, and you have to try Slint. For something not as dark you should check out The Six Parts Seven, Broken Social Scene, others...

i saw both explosions in the sky and mogwai in austin sometimes around last month (first at le parish aka the mercury and then emo's)

those 2 put on a great show... godspeed was in town last year but they drag their songs a bit long, imo
