Explorer wont close

When i use my interenet explorer recently sometimes the boxes wont close when I "X" them or ALT-F4. Instead i get an annoying DING! I then have to go to task manager and End Task Explorer. What is the cause of this? Is there anyway to un-install explorer and reinstall. I tried upgrading it to fix it and that didnt work.

You could try doing a Repair on IE.
Go to Add/Remove programs and try to uninstall it. You should be asked if you want to Repair IE.

Keep in mind you should always back up your data before attempting anything "critical to the OS" like IE.

I tried doing the repair and that didnt work. I would really like to find out why explorer is messing up.

when this happens when i go into task manager, it says that the cpu usage is 100%
