Explorer problem?

My explorer.exe seems to be having problems. It's as if my computer reboots, without actually restarting. Whatever windows I have open, come right back when the taskbar does. The only suspicious thing is with the system tray. Of the three programs I have running down there (AVG, Sygate, Creative Volume Control), the Creative thing doesn't start back up when the taskbar returns. I don't see why, but could that Creative Volume Control somehow be causing a problem?

As to WHEN the problem occured, it was when I was doing things in windows... it happened about three times. Once when I was right clicking and Sorting by Name in the Start Menu. Again when I was in the Control Panel. And again when I was browsing through My Computer. I just now did a bunch of random clicking through windows now, and couldn't reproduce the problem.

I'm running XP Pro, and I've scanned for viruses and spyware and haven't found anything new. Any ideas?

Sounds like explorer crashed and restarted it's self. The applications in the system tray are actually running, but for some reason after explorer restarts it's self, some do not show up. When this happens you should restart your machine.

The sounds like you may have some sort of corruption in windows.

Any idea how I could fix this possible corruption? It just happened again when I created a new folder manually in the All Programs folder of the Start Menu. And yes, the Creative Volume IS still running. I found it in the task manager under running processes. It just doesn't show up in the systray after this "soft reboot."

Thanks for the info, and any solutions?

EDIT: Actually, I just ran AVG and found Downloader.Stubby.A. I wonder if that was causing the problems.
