I think you just didn't click in the text box to get the cursor there. That happens to me a lot on these forums and it's quite annoying. I swear I click the text box but then I hit backspace a bunch and I go back 4 pages. So just make sure your cursor is in text box!

Yes that was an IE5 "feature" - does not happen with IE5.5 so far ;)
there should be a few old posts about that problem on here - say a year ago

You probably clicked on the one of the emotions or on Bold or something and then hit Backspace.... I do it three times a day...LOL

If the cursor is not in an edit text field, then backspace goes back in your history.

Yeah... i have IE 5.5, and I still have that problem!

I usually close all IE windows, and then restart IE.... that usually fixes the problem.

Wow thats weird - as I mentioned before that was an old problem (for me anyway) - not too sure why you guys are getting it now after all this time?

<< If the cursor is not in an edit text field, then backspace goes back in your history >>

This statement is unfortunately incorrect in this instance but generally correct:(
It occurs while actually typing the text with the cursor in the text box and then you press backspace to correct your typing etc - very annoying indeed

I'll do a search for my old posts - god knows what the title was though..but I'm 100% nobody had a solution for it?

What OS are you guys with the problem using?
I was using Windows 98 at the time
I'm running ME now and have been using 98SE - perhaps the change of OS cured the problem for me?
