Hi all!

I have been having a problem with Explorer over the past few months that won't go away! I am on version six using WindowsXP Pro.

I will be surfing the net, and then some pages I try to open, it suddenly just reboots the whole computer! (I am not talking about adult sites here either, just normal everyday home pages!) It will do the same thing every time when I try to access these homepages!
It gets rather annoying when you can't access something you want to read!

Has anyone had any similar problems? Any help appreciated!

Dump internet exploiter and go with Mozilla or Opera... you will have less problems. I did that for the same reason, but I was running 5.1 on 98 SE.

I completey agree, I think Firefox is a much greater browser than Internet Explorer. However, i do not think that this problem is being caused by internet explorer. in my opinoon my more likely spyware/third partys software, etc. also, there are some internet-explorer formated websites that firefox does not work great on, but it is a much better browser (especially the tabls)!

Are you using anti-virus and spyware removal tools on your system? If not, that might be the cause of your problems, IMO.

Thanks for the replys. I have thought about going with another browser, but haven't really tried to change over yet.

I have anti-virus software active and also use spybot to clean the system of any spyware from time to time. This doesn't seem to help though...

What are the complete hardware specs of your system, including the brand and model of the power supply? What precise brand and version of antivirus software and firewall are you using? Is the problem repeatable (visiting a certain site always produces the problem)? If so, name the site so I can check it out.

A-open Cobra AW-850 Deluxe Soundcard
Nu DBW-521 CD-R/RW DVD-Rom
LG DVD-R/RW/+R/RW

Sourcenext Virus Security K7 Security 2004 (This is a Japanese program, as I live in Japan and the PC is Japanese based.) The software has anti-virus and firewall program included. Version 7.5.6026

The same sites always generate the same problems such as:

Thanks in advance and please let me know if you need any further information.

maybe it is the Sourcenext suite that could be causing probs -

I hate to advise switching firewalls off, but could you disconnect from Net, reboot, disable the sourcenext suite, enable xp firewall, then connect to net.

if that fails, try using OPERA, yummmmyyy browser - amazing. Take you a few minutes to configure it the way you might want it to look - but so versatile.
Best of luck,
and let us know how it goes
