Explorer.exe reports problems closing, whenever I shut down or log off.

Whenever I try to shut-down/log off/restart, etc...explorer.exe has a problem shutting down gracefully, attempts to close down with the little window telling me it has an error, then it still tells me to shut the process down myself.

I've tried it on the "guest" account, and still the same problem. I've looked in the Event Viewer to see if it gave more details, but nothing.

Any idea's how I'd begin go troubleshoot this one? As it is basically the main required Windows process, don't see how I'm going to have too muc luck on finding a fix for this one, without having to take some very drastic measures.

TIA

Probably some explorer extension/add-on (or BHO), that doesn't want to shut down and/or has handles still open to the registry. (That usually results in an event log message about the user hive though.)

got any plug ins, or unwanted toolbars and such that would qualify as malware?
