Explorer.exe lock ups

Anyone else have problems with this? I've now had this problem on two different systems. Explorer.exe will lock up and I won?t have access to the start menu and usually nothing on the screen. I have to go to task manager and "end task"; then open explorer.exe again.

This is not Internet Explorer (iexplorer.exe). Anyone know what the problem is? It doesn't happen that often, but enough to irritate me.

Two different systems now as I mentioned. Here are the specs on the current one...

Windows XP Professional (OEM) w/SP1 and all the latest updates. All drivers are the latest.
ASUS A7N8X Deluxe
Athlon XP 2600+ 333FSB
512MB Crucial PC2700 6ns
ATi Radeon 8500 (retail)
Highpoint RocketRAID 133 controller w/2.33 bios
Maxtor D740X 40GB x2 RAID0
I'm using on-board audio and lan.

Nothing is overclocked except I am running the memory at CAS2. I doubt that is the problem.

Any input appreciated.

Have you checked the Event Log to see what Error it logged?

Since the OS is dependent on Explorer & IE for functionality,
and is hooked to just about every App & Service, it could be
like looking for a needle in a haystack.
