Explorer.exe hangs on Windows XP

Hi,

I have just set up my new computer and installed Windows XP Pro on it. My rig is basically a P4 2.53 chip, Gigabyte GA-8PE667 ULTRA. I believe that I have installed all the necessary drivers and I am using both the onboard LAN and onboard audio. The only conflict that I have is an "unknown device" which I haven't yet figured out what that is. I have read some articles that suggest that Windows XP has a weird problem with PnP devices about some WinMM file. Upon startup, my startbar is rendered useless, unless I kill explorer.exe and re-run it again...but even that hangs after some time. Any suggestions ? Thanks.

My Explorer.exe on my XP Pro machines seems to use 99% of my cpu. I have to kill it then reopen it and hope it works right. I can't figure out what the hell is wrong with it.
