explorer error at krnl386.exe

This error message pops up on my girls pc from time to time. It tends to drop video signal randomly, sometimes while she's using AOL. I have never come across this before, so I'm not even sure where to look. It sounds like an OS issue, but before I speculate, I will share the system info. Abit KD7, XP 2200+, 256m DDR 333, GF4 MX440,WD 40gb, onboard sound, Antec 330W PSU. She has windows Me installed and is using AOL 9.0. I would appreciate any help you kind folks could offer and will freely share any more info needed to solve this issue. Thanks.

does windows completely crash?? i.e. restart?? or does it just have a error then explorer reload?? i'm not sure about me, but with xp, you can just boot for the cd and do a repair or reinstall over your current windows...that would fix it...is there any option like that on the me cd?

Sometimes it goes to the bsod, and sometimes it just drops the video signal. Once I hit reset, it goes back to functioning properly for a while. As for recovery, I do believe Me has it available by booting from cd. Though this prolly has nothing to do with it, I'm going to swap out her junk modem for my Linksys. The current modem shows up in device manager as a WDM enumerator which I find odd. After I swap the modem and try a recovery, I'll post back with the results. Just a note: the last time it went to the bsod, she was using winamp and upon connecting to aol she was then disconnected immediately. Thanks for any help.
