Explorer doesn't refresh CD drives when a new CD is inserted.

Am I missing something here? Whilst browsing the folders in explorer, if I change the CD that is in one of my CD Rom Drives the name of the CD stays the same. Even if I close Explorer and re-open it explorer shows the drive as having the previous CD inserted!!!

Nope, you're not missing anything -- mine does the exact same thing.

I can't think of any setting that would be the cause of this. I do have CD Autorun disabled -- maybe that's the problem?

Nonetheless, here's a bump for you cause I'd like to know as well...

Same thing here. I think I searched for about 2 days for an answer online and never found one.

What kind of CD drive is it? Do you have the latest drivers and/or firmware for it?

That is exactly why you have the problem. Turn it back on and it'll refresh just fine.

Ahh, I thought that was the root of the problem. Thanks BFG...

I have 4 to be honest. 2 x SCSI and 2 x IDE

1) Plextor x40 (SCSI)
2) PLEXTOR 12X10X32s Re-Writer (SCSI)
3) Pioneer 105 DVD Rom (IDE)
4) Sony DRU120a DVD Re-Writer (IDE)

All have current firmware updates. None of them refresh when I change CD, or even when I enable Autorun as I tried that but i'll dbl check 2nite!!! :)

My work PC zip drive does that too under Win2k. I have to reboot to clear room for a new zip disk! IT SUCKS! :|
