Explorer disappears after DVD is ejected

Among the myriad of shortcomings ignored by Microsoft over the years is Windows Explorer being automatically closed after a movie on DVD is played and ejected. Is there a registry command to stop Windows Vista from acting stupid or perhaps some other setting that can be changed?
