Explorer constantly crashes in Win2k

When I start my computer and login Explorer.exe creates errors, closes, reopens and then creates errors again and the while process is done over again. The only way I can login to my computer is to login as administrator. I just built the computer and loaded windows and it dosen't even have that many programs on it. Does anyone have an idea of why this might be happening and what I can do to fix it? I've tried uninstalling SP2 and then reinstalling it but nothing is working. My next step is to use the install cd to repair a windows installation but i'd rather not do that if i don't have to. Thanks for the help.

I?ve had this problem occur with Win95 in the past... I tried copying various *.dll & *.exe files trying to correct it... they only way I was ever to get rid of it was to re-install Win95.

Since it?s a relatively new installation there *shouldn?t* be any problem using the repair option.

I'm having the same problems aswell, even after atleast 5 clean installs. I also find that when i turn it on, I often get BSOD, and it takes a couple of reboots before i actually log into windows. It seems to be getting worse. I've just run the repair utility off the boot disks, so i'll see if that has helped.

Joburnet, i've read that others have had the same problems and have found that uninstalling SP2 (and not reinstalling it) fixes these problems. I would do that, but i didn't make a backup upon installing it. I don't want to have to go back to Win98SE 🙁
