explorer @ 99%

Ok, I obviously posted in the wrong forum the first time around (or at least they dont know anything about XP64), so here's another go:

I partitioned my OS hardrive yesterday to install XP64 alongside XP32 on the same drive.

Since then, Task Manager tells me that explorer.exe is using 99% of the CPU. Manually shutting the explorer down and back on again (via Task Manager) solves the problem for the current session, but the problem pops up again each time I reboot.
I ran a Virus Scan (McAffee) as well as SpyBot and AdAware, no probs there.

I don't know if this is related or not, but while installing some apps on the XP64 partition. I moved a file from my RAID 0 config into a different folder (on the same drive) and suddenly that file became inaccessible. Just to clarify, I am running both OS's on different partitions on one and the same drive, and my RAID 0 config is another two separate drives. No matter under which OS, I can no longer access this file (3DM06) nor even delete it. Could this have something to do with my issue?

In my quest for viruses/spyware/malware/rootkits I downloaded a trial version of Panda Titanium. In order for Panda not to conflict with McAffee I uninstalled McAffee and unplugged the modems power cable. After uninstalling, I rebooted (still with the modem off) and explorer was fine! PC ran smoothly. Then I installed Panda, turned the modem back on and explorer was back at 99%.
Just to see what happens, I unplugged the cord again and restarted - explorer was fine. I turned the modem back on (during Windows operation) and after acquiring the network address the explorer was back up at 99%.

Hm...

Apparently the issues are two separate ones.

1) I can't manipulate files on my RAID setup after installing Windows XP64.

2) There's soemthing wrong with my network connections and it just coincides that my woes began after partitioning my HD and installing XP64

if windows is seeking network resources that it cannot locate it is not uncommon for this to happen.

specifically you have layer1/layer2 communication and hence the stack is saying "I'm good!" when in fact it is not.

I see... and how do I solve this? Reinstall the drivers? I already deleted the other (XP64) OS but that didn't help.

post all relevant info...

open network control panel and post every single thing you see, on every tab.

then right click on your computer and there is something like "network identity" and post all that as well.

This is VERY common with all MS networking, and it all depends on your network setup.

Ok, I'll get on it this evening after work. Thanks for helping me out! I've tried getting help in several forums, you are the only one who seems to have the knowledge / willingness to help out!

Oh, I just right clicked on 'My Computer' but couldn't find anything that looks like network identity. Only 'Map Network Drive', that's the only entry with 'Network' in it... I'll post my Network Connection Settings tonite.

Ok, here we go (Hope this works, sorry for the mediocre quality, not a very good camera):

Also. the commands "net config workstation" and "net config server" will help to understand what your computer thinks is going on. Sometimes what the GUI says and what the OS are actually doing are completely different.

No prob, take your time - from the last two number in the image url you can tell the order in which they were taken (I just noticed that) they are from 46-60

Probably not related, but on XP I've seen a corrupt video file spike Explorer's CPU. When it tries to create a preview of the file for viewing as an icon it does something odd and the CPU goes nuts and stays there.

Could be remotely related since I am unable to access downloaded files after moving them to a different location. I can move files all I want on my OS harddrive, but especially .zip files will act up on my RAID setup. On a same note I downloaded 3D Mark 06 via bittorrent client from guru3d the other day and was unable to access it. It seems as if since installing XP64 on the partition, the two OS's have trouble to see it's the same person. It's just weird that NEITHER OS will grant me access and bizarre even that I only have seem to have this issue with zip files after moving them.

Issue resolved. At least the explorer bit of it. I reinstalled the nVidia Network Bus Enumerator, that did the trick.
