Explorer 3.0 vs. old skool explorer

Have had the old ms explorer for about almost two years now, and I've ordered the new 3.0 one. It's supposed to be lighter and generally better. I read that the dpi goes from 1500 to 6000, is this correct? Has anyone made this same switch and what are your personal experiences with the new version? What do you think? Thanks.
