Apparently theres a buffer overflow bug in the new half life 1.1.0.8 patch that can allow admins to execute arbitrary code on your computer. read up on it here

I'm confused. When they say "arbitrary code" they just mean the admins can execute console commands remotely, correct? If that's the case I wouldn't worry about it. Just hope you play at servers where the admins don't have the urge to execute the "kill" command remotely on a regular basis.

good read, at least we knwo what caused the problem. any reason it targetted opengl of ATI ?

how about the ati patch? did it fix the problem for that servers forcing clients to do something ?
