Exploding CD...anyone seen anything like this...??

One of the guys I race with had this cd blow up while in his drive. Pieces flew out the front and hit him in the shins. His drive was shot with a cracked lens and some other minor internal damage. If this wasn't a reliable source I wouldn't believe it. Has anyone seen anything like this before?
 
Speaking of exploding CDs, I'm sure you guys have heard of putting cds in the microwave, bottom-up, for 4-6 seconds. Quite an impressive light show.
 
I think this is BS. To get a cd to do what you are talking about just take one and bend it until it shatters and trust me, it will blow up into tons of pieces.

Don't blame ya for thinkin' it's BS but it's not. Obviously this picture would be easy to doctor. It wasn't intended as evidence. It could very well be that the drive broke while spinning full speed and shattered the disk. Just thought it was interesting.
