The boot sequence option is in no way affected by whether BIOS detects the drive or not. What choices do you have and what controller is your drive on?

The primary master EIDE drive is usually referred to as HDD0 or IDE0 by most mobos in the boot order.

If it's a SATA drive it may be called SATA or SCSI. Some mobos treat SATA controllers as SCSI controllers.

 
There is no option of selecting any hard drive although this is an IDE one. I tried restoring default settings and the OS loads alright but still no option of selecting the hard drive as one of the booting choices, all I get is the floppy and CD ROM drive.
