Everything is divisable by nine, and all of them have the same icon. 🙂
 
OMFG what the hell. No I've tried two different numbres to result in different symbols and it does get them. I know there is a simple trick here but I don't see it.

It is always going to be what 9 is.

Firgure it out from there. 😉

And Skoorb.... once you got it pull MrsSkoorb over and say "Follow the instructions, but keep the number and symbol in your head and I'll guess it." Then amazer her again and again as you guess the symbol in her head 😀 (I did this to my friends).
 
Its not really a repost that I know of, the concept has been presented before on some other page.

Look at the symbols represented by all the factors of 9 (9, 18, 27, 36, etc.) - they are all the same. No matter what numbers you start with, you will end up with this symbol.

If you reload the page, the symbols will change, just to mess with your head, but all the factors of 9 will still have identical symbols.
 
If the symbol differs from what you think it's supposed to be, you did your math incorrectly. It will work every single time, you can't stump it.

When you load the page you will notice that all the multiples of 9 (expect maybe 99) are the exact same symbol. It just changes the symbol each time you load the page.

Using algrebra:

A two digit number can be represented by 10x+y (i.e. 25 = 10*2 + 5). So:

Take a two digit number: 10x+y
sum of the digits: x + y
Subtract the sum from the number: (10x+y) - (x+y) -> (10x-x) + (y-y) -> 9x

So no what number you choose, you will always get a multiple of 9.

take 99 k
from this you get 99-18=81

now take 98
from this you get 98-17=81

so as long as 81, 72, 63, 54, 45, 36, 27, 18, and 9 are the same symbol the answer is always the same.
