I'm originally from Korea and now a landed immigrant in Canada. I have an expired passport. Must I renew it? Is it true that I am considered an "alien" and can't even apply for citizenship?

I thought I'd ask here first because the Korean consul office is so anal about some of the questions I ask. (based on my previous experience with them)

U have to be in Can for a while before getting citizenship. You should be able to renew your passport at the korean consulate. Just call them :)

They are exceptionally anal because of my age. I had to waive my mandatory conscription and everything.

I've been in Canada for 7 years now. I consider myself more Canadian than Korean. :)

Can't you apply for citizenship now then? I thought you had to wait only 5-6 years.

Yeah. I've just been broke. I'm applying with my sisters, which adds up to $600 or so. So I just held back for a few months. :)

I'll just go over to the consul office and speak to them in English (pretend like I forgot Korean). They are so much more polite in English. ;)

P.S. I'm Diamond? I didn't realize that. How did that happen??
