Recently, I've found a domain that I might want to buy up. It says it expires 9/24/04, however, I still cannot buy it for some reason--it is still 'unavailable'. Here is some of the info that a WHOIS gives me:
Registered through: GoDaddy.com
Domain Name: **************.COM
Created on: 24-Sep-03
Expires on: 24-Sep-04
Last Updated on: 24-Sep-03

Is it normal for you not to be able to buy up an expired domain? I always hear of all these people who do exactly that. Is there a certain time period in which it becomes available?

All registrars offer a grace period after the expiry of a domain so that the current owners of the domain have a chance to renew the domain before it's released to the public. Usually this period lasts for a month up to 2 months. I'm not sure what godaddy's protocol is on this.

Just call up Godaddy - There's several 800#'s on their web page. Can't hurt.
