It seems ironic to pay a re-occurring fee for a budgeting program.

I look at it differently. If I am getting value out of it, then why not spend the $50 a year. That's like $4 and some change a month. If I can't spend a little over $4 a month on a program that I find valuable for my life then I need to think differently. I use YNAB everyday, and my budget goes thru the progam every Sunday. I spend every Sunday for 30m and I'll plug in my budget for the week. That's just me though.

Budgeting isn't the answer. Learning to stop keeping up with the Jones' is the solution.

Everytime you want to make a purchase ask yourself the question: "Do I really need this shit?"

Budgeting is something that people do when they have a TIGHT budget and have to make sure they allocate certain amounts to certain bills. That isn't necessary for anyone that has a decent living.

Take a look at Mint for the last few months and tell me this: What categories are you spending the most excessively at? That will help us further drill down where you need help - could be dining (eating out to much) or in shopping.

As I said, I make good money, and never have issues paying bills on time. So...maybe I dont need one? Just seems like everyone should.

Oh...and as I admitted in my first post...other than essential expenses, most money goes to dining.

Then you're spot on. Work on not going out as often. I have found that organization with meals is one of the best ways....

Start doing things regularly... Taco Tuesday... Grilling Thursday... Pizza (oven based) Friday.... Anything but going out to eat.

I had some similar stuff where my money wasn't going up month-to-month as much as I liked and I easily recognized why... I fucking love beer way too much. Time to put the bottle down for a while.
