The only video driver on here IS the auto-update driver, and yes, it IS stopping me from installing the Intel drivers. That said, the newest Intel driver I could find in a search ("7th generation Intel graphics"), were from 12/2016, not even Jan 2017. So I'm still waiting for updated drivers for my iGPU.
Yeah, I figured that out as well after my previous post: searched for new driver and came up empty handed.

Hmm, this is the second time since I upgraded this DeskMini (just a day ago, I think) (previously with G4400), that "Waterfox has stopped responding" and closed.

Wonder what's causing the appcrashes. I've been using this same version of Waterfox on all of my 64-bit Windows PCs, for maybe a month or so now, and no issues that I can speak of.

The other 8GB stick of RAM was laying out on top of the other RAM package for maybe a day... static?

The RAM has a lifetime warranty (GSkill), but it's just wierd that I'm having these issues now, with the G4600. I'm not running Windows 7 either, I'm running 10.

That being said, I upgraded this DeskMini using the Internet Update feature, and it upgraded to 7.00 firmware. The other DeskMini, shipped with, and is running, P1.50 firmware.

Edit: Hmm, Skype hung again, too. Weirdness on this DeskMini.

Edit: There's no overclocking on this H110-chipset board, either.

Edit: It has come to mind that I "zapped" the chassis cover a couple times in the past, before I upgraded the CPU. However, when it happened, the PC kept running like nothing had happened.
I'm a little concerned, though, because the PC takes a DC input from a barrel plug laptop-style power brick, and there isn't really a separate chassis ground connection to the wall ground.

Well, the non-"Zapped" DeskMini is doing well. Scrolling, at 4K with Waterfox 51.0.1 full-screen seems improved. Nearly glass-smooth. Then again, I only have a few tabs open right now, and Skype and CPU-Z. This DeskMini has firmware P1.50 on it.

Hate to bump this thread, but I wanted to comment.

@escrow4, remember your thread about getting a Ivy Bridge or Haswell Celeron? Wasn't that fun?

Well, this CPU is MORE fun. HyperThreading, HEVC / VP, well, no AVX/AVX2, can't have it all, I guess, without paying Intel a bundle.

But for $60 on ebay, for a G4560 (HD610), or $90 on ebay, for a G4600, either is a great deal on a great CPU.

It's my opinion that you should try one of these out, and let us know your impression of them.

Edit: I'll even paypal you some money to pick one up, but you'll have to wait until Mar. until I get some more money. (I spent my money this month on two G4600 CPUs for my DeskMinis, and two G4560 CPUs for my ASRock Z170 Pro4S boards, to re-build and sell. Already found a buyer for one of them.)

This CPU is about 20% faster and twice more efficient that my Xeon 5472 (3.0Ghz 4c 80wt) on Win7-64.
Elysium = 643.19s
Winrar MT = 3666
Winrar ST = 1181
CPU-Z MT = 3416
CPU-Z ST = 1024

Now Im looking for G4600 + mini-itx H110 as cheap upgrade. Looks like I'll get +20% performance + M.2 + USb3.0. Not bad.
