Experimental Aids Vaccine Inexplicably Protects Blacks and Asians but not Whites

Actually since blacks and asians are several thousand times more likely to get aids then it is no wonder why the vaccine works better for them.
 
considering that blacks and asians togther account for probably 80-90% of the AIDS infections in the world, I'd say that is a good thing
 
Hmm well if this turns out to be true I wonder how much larger the population of Africa will get without this disease to keep it in check?

The less young people are dying of AIDS, the more productive human beings there are to feed themselves and others. Right now Africa is facing a labor shortage because trained labor is being killed off by AIDS faster than they can train new one. AIDS doesn't kill the weak and the old. It kills the young and the strong.

the people in africa don't even use condoms. you think they're gonna sign up to get a vaccine? besides, who is going to pay for it? so much money is going to treat aids victims already.

I knew it was a joke, some of you guys need to lighten up.

For Nocturnal - they tested gay males that were at high risk, they even said that these men decreased risky activity due to counseling they received. Gay guys are still very highly infected, so it would make sense to test it on them.

I think it sucks for the placebo group that got it. Luck of the draw, maybe they could have been in the other group.
 
Suppose that there are indeed specific genetic markers possessed by black people that make the vaccine effective for them but not for white people. All else being equal, do they or do they not release the vaccine to the public for political reasons? Would anyone even raise a stink about it?

The trials were not a failure, because they got measurable results that they can work off of. Sure, it didn't do what was expected, but they will hopefully be able to learn from the data they now have.

They didn't volunteer to be infected with aids, they volunteered to try out the vaccine. Deliberately infecting people would be unethical.

Will you people read the goddamn article before you blabber about people "volunteering to be infected".

By design, VaxGen recruited mostly gay male volunteers who were HIV-negative at the start of the trial, but who were thought to be at higher than average risk of contracting HIV because they engage in anal intercourse with men.

Two-thirds of the volunteers were given a series of injections with the experimental vaccine Berman developed. The rest were given a placebo, and the two groups were ultimately compared to see whether they had differing rates of infection.
