I have put up several posts here criticizing the media and its negative effects on our younger generation. A majority of the response to my posts have been negative ... essentially calling me a loony for thinking that media (TV / video games etc.) would influence behavior.

Anyways ... last night I saw this pod on Current TV (we get it on Comcast cable). Very fascinating ! If nothing else ... you will learn about a country that we typically know very little about.

Its available here .. I would highly recommend that you watch this video and post your thoughts ...

OMG!!! Freedom is so scary!!!

Allowing people to be exposed to everything is dangerous!!!

Allowing freedom of expression is subversive!!!

People shouldn't be allowed to do what they want!!!

I don't want to grow up, I'm a Bhutanese kid...

Seriously though, it seems the Bhutanese people, though understandably apprehensive, are more than capable of governing themselves. If they can realize that "Gross National Happiness" does not emanate from their king or government but from themselves alone, they will flourish as a nation. Freedom IS terrifying.

I just love the patronizing upper-middle class whites wrist-wringing over what they see as an end to their Peter Pan Utopian snow globe of a country. Quick! We must save them from themselves!
