hello, I'm thinking of getting my fiance a new laptop to replace her aging sony notebook. We haven't had any problems with that but she's only had it for a year now (bought it used from a family member who never used it, so hard to say what it's reliability track record is).

I'm looking at the Vaio PCG-TR3A, which the smaller portable. Does anyone know if these are reliable?

I hear stories about Sony laptops being unreliable but have been unable to find any significant data to indicate this.

Thanks!

I've had my Vaio for about 3 years and haven't had a problem...til Friday. The thing just went dead. Won't boot up or anything. I suspect a bad power supply, but becuz I stripped one of the screws that holds it together, I can't get the blasted thing open to look.

Otherwise, I've liked my Sony very much. It was nice and compact. I guess it's time I got one with a DVD burner built in.
