What's the rest of your system like?

Generally speaking all cards of the same type (7800GT, 6800GS, etc) will perform exactly the same from any manufacturer. The bundled software, the warranty and cooling are some things that may differ.

The 6800GS should be fine assuming that the rest of your system is decent and won't bottleneck the card.

I heard it is only about 5% slower than the GT one? and why is the memory presented as 256E instead of 256Mb?

My system is still open but the processor choice is pretty clear: AMD 64 3000 >
What kind of motherboard would you recommend for that gfx card?

Something with a PCI-e slot if you're using that card. There are plenty of NForce4 motherboards out there.

I'd just get whatever 6800GS is cheapest, they will all perform the same really. Oh, and its sometimes even faster than a 6800GT, so its a good card. :)
