I am looking to get a Yakima roof rack to carry my bikes around. I am looking used b.c they are so damn expen$ive - anything I should look out for?

Good choice. I have one and it'll probably outlast ME. I feel very secure having my bike on the Yakima rack.

Be aware that the noise level in your car will elevate dramatically at highway speeds (even without a bike installed). I've heard the wind guard helps a lot, but I'm too cheap to blow $60 for one. I have the Steelheads myself, and they're solid. Also, there are many different types of clips, so for each car you use the rack on, you'll probably have to get new clips. Oh, and it's a PITA to install. I usually just leave mine on all summer. Get the lock cores so nobody steals it.

Oh, yeah, remember to take the bikes off BEFORE entering the garage! 😀

I've got a hitch-mounted Yakima rack for my Blazer, and it worked great. Unfortunately, I can't use it any more right now. Wrecked the blazer and I don't have another vehicle w/ a hitch at the moment.
