Experience with Western Digital Hard Drive RMA Service -- New or Refurb Replacment Drive?

Anyone have any experience with WD RMA service and if so was your replacemnt drive new or refurbed?

I just received my replacement drive and it looks, to the uneducated eye, to be brand new. It has an OCT 2002 date on it. Seems like a kinda new date. Is it likely to receive a refurb with that recent of a date or maybe it was refurbed in OCT 2002? What are the tell-tale signs of a refurbed drive?

Mostly if the drive is refurbish there might be a refurbished sticker. Hard to tell sometime. Since company clean the drive so well

refurbed drives have "REFURBISHED" printed on the lable. if you call they should be able to tell you if your still not sure.

i always thought they sent refurb drives out for rma. i know dell does (in my experience).
