Experience with ASUS P4S800

Does anyone have experience with this board. Trying to compare this with P4PE - which one would be better for a "no overclocking" machine

Save $40 on the board and get a 800FSB CPU but no dual channel memory, SATA, or IDE-RAID ports ? I don't see the benefit considering 800 FSB CPUs cost more than their 533 counterparts.... a P4PE with latest bios seems equivalent.

Thanks ChefJoe

If I read correctly, r u suggesting I buy a P4PE and a 800FSB CPU. Use latest BIOS for P4PE and use 800 FSB. Also do not buy P4PE with dual channel memory, SATA, or IDE-RAID ports.

Is this correct ?

Thanks

No, the first part is pointing out what the differences between this Sis-based P4S800 vs the regular 865PE based P4P800 or P4P800 Deluxe. You save some money on the motherboard, but for what reason ? As far as I can see, I would only get this board if I already had an 800 FSB cpu and were forced to build someone a computer with hyperthreading support from the cheapest parts possible.

You'll be missing out on many of the things that people wanted from the 800FSB and 865/875 based solutions - dual channel memory, SATA/SATA raid, additional IDE raid while paying the price premium (granted, it's about $5-20) for an 800FSB processor.

As far as I can see, the P4S800 offers no real benefits over a P4PE board with the latest bios flash.
