"Expecting to crank up T-birds and Durons big-time with an A7V? Not according to Asus' A7V manual , you're not." OVERCLOCKERS MAYBE OUT OF LUCK!

we will see. first off, the MANUAL may say nothing about overclocking settings, but that doesn't mean the motherbaord doesn't have the jumpers that do it. remember the ASUS K7M? ASUS didn't officially make it, it was in a white OEM box, until ASUS felt it was safe to broadcast it's brand on those motherboards.

We will see. I'm still getting one, becuase ASUS is a good brand, and I need to get a Socket A mobo fast.

Well in the pictures posted by overclockers.com, the switches seem to now be missing compared with the one in Tom's Hardware.

Since you are getting one anyway, please let us know.

That would be very disappointing. I was planning on getting an A7V and Duron 700 and OC'ing to around 950. As with any purchase, I was going to wait for the released products and some info on the message boards before jumping in and ordering parts. Since this is all speculation according to the link, I will wait and see. My K6-III 450 isn't so bad that I can't live another month or two with it. Additionally, it may very well be that the AMD chipset will be out very soon and support DDR and PC133. Considering VIA's weak memory performance, this may be the best course any way. Thanks for the info.

heh OneEng, I used to think this too, but then I began to see all those scores in Sisoft from users in this board with the Via KX133, and Apollo 133A chipset. well, they blow away the competition now.. it's unbelievable! at least, in Sisoft. don't know about the rest of the benches. I wish Anand would do a recap on chipsets performance, like the old Super 7 ones, and the newer ones..

I've noticed that under sisoft, the K6-3 system is on a very similar chipset (comparing to the Slot 1 Apollo chipsets, and the KX133), yet it dies in the memory scores.. does this mean they improved the memory performance alot?

I'd like Anand to try and answer those questions.. it's truly interesting for me :)
