expected temperatures w/ p4 2.26?

I have a P4 2.26 GHz cpu (stock retail heatsink/fan) with a Gigabyte GA-8IGX motherboard and I'm seeing 47C (idle) and 55C (full load)... is this normal? I know there's some variability between temp measurements on different motherboards but 47C on idle seems pretty high. I've re-installed the retail heastink/fan a couple of times using Arctic Silver paste and the temperatures haven't changed at all... Anyone else have this same cpu/mobo combination? Do Gigabyte motherboards typicall show higher cpu temps? Most of the temperature measurements I've seen with the P4 2.26 on Asus boards seem to have lower overall operating temps...

i got the 2.26b. your temps do seem to high.
ive got the retail sink(lapped) with as3 running at 2.72(17*160)

idle temp is around 40C with 100% load giving around 55C at case temp 23C at around (1.55>1.6v)

what kind of case temps you got cos that seem mighty high if your running at stock settings??

I'm not sure exactly what my case temps are, I don't think the GA-8IGX has a system temp sensor... Are you using the same motherboard? I have Lian-Li PC-82 with the 2 intake fans and 1 exhaust fan.

I've got a 2.26B with the retail HSF (and stock thermal compound) on an Intel board that runs about 30-36C at idle and 48C max under Prime95 load. Idle temps vary because ambient temp varies from low 70F to mid 90F in the room where the computer is located. This is in an Antec SX1040 case with 4 Panaflo L1A's cooling the case.
