Expanding a VMware Guest Spanned Volume

I have no idea why the data drive for this fileserver was created in this way, however, I have a drive "F:" split into three ~256gb disks. Can I simply add space to each, and extend them in no particular order without worry?

Is it ESX or ESXi? If so, check the datastore and see what the block size is set to. If it is set to 1M, the max size of the virtual disk is going to be 256GB. If that's the case, you have to add another disk to the VM and add it to the spanned volume in Windows.

It's ESX 4.0, will be upgrading to 5.0 soon. I don't think I'll have any problem adding space to each drive but I'll check the datastore block size. I just wasn't sure if there is any sort of RAID-like rules with spanned drives or not. I didn't want to add space, extend the drive then somehow break the spanned drive.

Nevermind, the max size for these volumes is indeed 256gb. I'll go ahead and create another drive.

Do you know how to add a drive into a spanned drive?
