The problem is that if GOP loses leadership, this Pax Americana strategy goes out of the door. If GOP keeps leadership, this country will go bankrupt, and Pax Americana goes out of the door because there will be no money for it. Bottom line, Americans are willing to shoulder the costs of defense, but not being the world policeman, and playing whack-a-mole with this nature's fortune. Empires are expensive to maintain. Ask Gorbachev.

In recent days, those missing pieces have finally begun to fall into place. As it turns out, this is not really about Iraq. It is not about weapons of mass destruction, or terrorism, or Saddam, or U.N. resolutions.

This war, should it come, is intended to mark the official emergence of the United States as a full-fledged global empire, seizing sole responsibility and authority as planetary policeman. It would be the culmination of a plan 10 years or more in the making, carried out by those who believe the United States must seize the opportunity for global domination, even if it means becoming the "American imperialists" that our enemies always claimed we were.

The "PLAN" for Iraq is about as short-sighted as George W. Bush's IQ level.

Who needs an exit strategy...place makes a great tank range and training facility; moreover, it gets us closer to Iran and Syria, so our tomahawks don't have as far to fly when we decide to clean up the Middle East.

Oh, by the way, nice link...I believe everything your google searches yield.

Yes and lucky you are in a nice safe chair over here where there's no chance your head will be blown off by an Iraqi sniper and you lack the conscience to worry about those that aren't so fortunately situated. Isn't it wonderful to be emotionally dead? Still, it's a wonderful experience to vent your pent up fears by beating your chest as you run out from beneath your Mother's skirts. 'Ah, I love my testosterone high.'

I was there the first time, three more times thereafter, Somalia, Macedonia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina; as Senator Kerry put it, "I don't need you to give me a class on honor." I've done more for this country in 1 year than you have done your entire life; save your emotionally-loaded rhetoric for the rest of the kids around here.

But have you done more before 8am than the rest of us have done all day? Just wondering.

I'm on the metro @ 6:00am, but I don't do too much before 8:00am anymore, sir :) I hung-up my combat boots and exchanged by BDU's for shirts and ties...but still think some young punk who has never left his trailer park should not worry about my 'safe chair' from which I sit, 'emotionally dead', and take positions contrary to his.

My apologies on the mommy's skirts. Your post, "Who needs an exit strategy...place makes a great tank range and training facility; moreover, it gets us closer to Iran and Syria, so our tomahawks don't have as far to fly when we decide to clean up the Middle East." was callow , tasteless, emotionally unbalanced and disgusting. It's also egotistical, arrogant and profoundly unsophisticated. You still have one hand on the vine. I didn't want you to think you could sh!t and leave it.

Leave it? Normally, he'll just throw it around the room grinning like the missing link he is. You're far too kind.

Call it what you want; sometimes the truth hurts and everyone doesn't have to agree with it. If you don't think we are going to leave equipment and troops in the area, setup M-16 and tank ranges for rotations, you are sadly mistaken...not to mention "emotionally unbalanced." You like to throw that jargon around; is your "mommy" in a retardation home, or something? You seem to project your own insecurities onto others. You know what Fraud would say about your previous comments directed toward me. Oh, but I don't support your sexual ideologies, so that "Don't ask, don't tell" nonsense doesn't fly with me...tell your mom I said hi and address me without the attacks next time, which would warrant a more thoughtful response.

:D

Moonie is good at projection, I was thinking about buying one of him for my home theater system. The MoonieDLP 2000? has some pretty good features, the contrast ratio looks good, however the brightness is a little low.

---------------------------
"address me without the attacks next time, which would warrant a more thoughtful response" Good advise, I will make that attempt and start now:

I have heard many many times that the truth hurts from people who call themselves 'realists'. They are of a type generally hence my tendency to type. We live in a dog eat dog world, a world of competitive capitalism and we grew up in it as children. But for millions of years the way humans evolved was through cooperation. We are puny animals without each other. The competition with each other has arisen as a result of anonymity, the superficial ability to exist independently with money. With money we can now acquire what used to require social skill and interconnected relatedness. In isolation we have had the luxury of developing our egos to an incredible degree. Our independence, our toughness, our rugged individualism is a psychotic dream. We are alone in the world and on guard against assault because we are keyed up to compete. Competition is hostility pure and simple. We have filled ourselves with hate.

So you are right, as far as it goes. The truth hurts is a statement of reality within a sick world. Your mindset represents one successful accommodation to insanity. I understand full well why it looks right to you. You don't have to agree, I know, but you could take a look to see. You have all the skill sets to survive successfully in a sick world, it won't hurt you to take a look. In fact it may only be the winners who can transition out of the game. It requires giving up on false rewards, though, and that ain't easy to do.

So what your truth basically amounts to is that it's a cruel world and it requires a cruel (objectively appropriate) response. You see this as the most advanced view, the view that has conquered romantic naiveté and smarmy liberality. It is also a view with lots and lots of popularity. It amounts to a self apology for ones selfishness, a requirement of life. Unfortunately it is based on a logical reaction to a disease. You see the logic, not the disease.

Welp, I gotta do some stuff now even though I wanted to say more. The issue is a philosophical one, I guess, regarding the nature of man. Your pragmatism multiplied many many times is what stands in the way of undoing the damage caused by selfishness.

When you compete with your neighbor you cut your own throat.

A mighty wrestler died in a match not realizing it could happen to him. A saying

While I enjoy giving Moonie a hard time for his singleminded hatred for anything Republican, there are some lines that shouldn't be crossed.

Personally I enjoy watching some of the so-called "progressive" liberals on this messageboard address anyone who doesn't swallow their Bush/Republican hating rhetoric using all manner of homosexual insults. There is no need to stoop to their level.

He's entitled to a few misconceptions about me since I had a few about him. I hadn't noticed progressives calling anybody queer. I guess you know you're not talking about me. I guess you know too where your projection focus came from. :D Maybe you could brighten the picture by identifying what it is you thought I projected. I know you like specificity as an honest approach.

I would have thought the exit strategy for Iraq would consider the folks there and the $ we are spending there and not the heroic souls of danger past. I think the focus ought to be on their welfare with out regard to how many years we ourselves spent, if we spent, in some dreary place in harms way.
When Moonbeam marched with Washington or Grant or rode with Patton or served in any war his deeds then mean little to the plight of the folks in Iraq today. As I see it the concern of our fellow American or fellow man is all that matters.. I myself am a coward and pretty apt to stay that way..
