existing MP3s on iPOD?

Hello. I have a bunch of MP3s from Napster and MP3s from music I create in my studio. I don't have an IPOD at the moment and I was wondering can existing MP3s be placed on the IPOD or is the only way to get songs on an IPOD is if I buy from iTunes?

Thanks!

lol. i heard a couple of stories from my friends who already have IPOD's and they said it only works with ITunes and nothing else so I wasn't really sure. I looked at napster and saw IPOD wasn't one of the devices it supports, so that only confirmed the stories to me. They did have existing MP3s on there hard drive so they wouldn't have known if that was possible either.

I know its not an audio format. I just wasn't sure if the Ipod worked exclusively with songs downloaded by Itunes service or not.

Nah, all of my music on my ipod (loaded onto it using itunes) was made using CDex and LAME.

iPods only support the DRM used by the iTMS. Any other store that sells DRM'd songs won't work on an iPod. However, normal unprotected DRM/AAC/AIFF (and maybe another format I'm missing) will play fine on an iPod.
