Existence after death?

You die.

Then, 100 million years from now, our God-like descendents will resurrect you in a computer simulation. They will also resurrect everyone who ever lived and anyone who could ever have lived.

It's a lot more realistic than traditional Christianity and also doesn't contradict Christianity or any modern religion, for that matter.

Yeah I know I have thought about this a lot and I consider myself a believer in a god (90% of the time), but I have recently started to think that their isn't an afterlife. I believe there is a god ruling over all, but that when our time in his domain is over....it's over.

you die and rot. It's like before you were born.... remember that? no? exactly. You don't float to some magic land, or are reborn... your brain stops functioning and you have no further thoughts or feelings. That's why you should lead a productive life and not waste it praying, fighting or any other activity that generally detracts from a useful life.

The quicker the world develops and adopts this idea, the quicker we will evolve as a species. Unfortunately, many people are hugely ignorant and waste their time arguing/killing over religions (which, given a modest amount of thought are blatantly hugely idiotic, especially at this day and age where we're supposed to be an intelligent group).

/thread.

Yes there is. No one has pierced the veil of death and returned except Christ. Well, let me take that back, there have been some NDE or near death experiences.

You might find this one helpful Howard Storm's story.

Personally I think we are eternal beings and will go on after death.

Good luck on your search.

This is flamebait/a joke, right?

Nothing happens to us after we die

We want to believe it because otherwise we will be 🙁

What is the purpose of having an afterlife?

Who goes to heaven? Who goes to hell?
What is the point?
We are not important. The univerise is huge.

We are like robots.. we are just made out of flesh and not metal.

umm...

this will never happen, and won't happen because we're already encoded innately to fear death. religion alleviates this fear, by rationalizing that we'll essentially never cease to exist. We naturally fear death, because if you die, you lose all capability to pass on your own genes.

Besides, at the moment, there seems to be a bit too much of us around? Maybe arguing/killing over religions and such is a form of population control of sorts...

I agree.

We become one with nature. Our decomposition will lead our flesh into the nutrition of other organisms. As digestion ensues we will continue up/down the life cycles of various creatures and eventually end up as simple organic matter that will have no trace of our existence. Enjoy life while it is here... There is no true way for us to understand/grasp what is next.

Great point. However, mine was based on observable, testable scientific fact whereas his was based upon speculation and massively questionable ideas that many educated and open-minded people consider complete myth. A minor difference, for sure, but I feel it's important.
