I am wanting to use ExFAT for Windows XP, I've heard there is a downloadable hotfix for it to run on XP? Can anyone confirm this to be true?

Can anyone clue me in to what ExFAT is? I've heard of FAT, FAT12, FAT16, FAT32, VFAT, FATX, but I have no idea what ExFAT is.

FAT file system version optimized for the new larger flash devices.

In the immediate future, you might. But as enough time passes, you shouldn't.

Here's a big Q - does that HP USB Format tool that's circulating the internet - will that format a flash drive to ExFAT, if you have the ExFAT for XP driver loaded?

If not, I hope someone, somewhere, comes out with a similar tool.

I tried Windows Disc Management and ExFAT is not a format option. I am guessing the KBB update is only to read ExFAT formatted by computers running VISTA or higher. So if you want to format a drive in ExFAT, wait for a 3rd party software or Buy Windows 7.

If you right click the drive in my computer it will allow you to format it, it just does not allow the hp tool to format it with exfat.

odd that it does not allow it in the windows disc manangement
