Well, I need some advice from the fitness gurus...I want to lose 30-40 pounds really quickly. But, I cant go to the gym because its pretty far and the price is unreasonable. Ive started to eat healthy again and I run about a mile or so each day. Is there anything else that will help me lose weight, than running or weight lifting? Any input would be awesome.

Running is a good start, getting your diet in order is the #1 priority.

Honestly, I WOULD do weight training....but.....since it sounds like you don't want to I won't get into it.

Run, run, run. Cardio + Eating Heathly will get you there. Quickly? I don't know what you mean by that. If you want to eat less than 1000 cals a day and run miles and miles you would probably lose it quick, but that is VERY unhealthy. How overweight are you?

Lots, lots, lots, and lots of cardio my friend.
<--- lost 20 pounds after few weeks on volleyball team (even that's not pure cardio)

BTW: Don't forget to eat right. Lay off/limit yourself to junk food

I really would like to do weight training but my parents arent up to forking up 50 bucks a month for me to go to a gym. The don't understand why lifting weights is so important...I am 5'11" and weigh around 185 pounds, so I would like to get into the 150s...

5'11' 150 sounds really really skinny. At 185 all you'd have to do is lift weights and you'd look good in no time. See if you can't get a trial membership or something. You can do a lot of good in 30 days esp. if you're young which I assume you are if your parents are paying.

You can always buy used weights for cheap, like some dumbells to start with. Which can be used to work out your upper body, and go running for the legs.

agreed. if your diet is good, try to work up to 3-5 miles a few times a week, do pushups, sit-ups, squats, stuff like that. You can get a pretty good workout just by using your own body weight working against gravity.

Depends on frame and muscle size to a great extent. I'm 5,11" and currently about 175 and I want to lose fat - and I have above average muscle. Well, not on my spindly legs which is why I can be so "light" and still want to trim up more.

Anyway you need to cut your calories back significantly, but consume then consistently thruoghout the day. Ideally a lot of protein, and do cardio I'm going to say 5 times a week for as long as you can.

This is good advise. Here is a trick to help make it last: find something you love. Don't force yourself to do something you hate, becuase it won't stick. Lifting works for me because I enjoy it. I hate running though, so I swim laps instead. If I was forcing myself to run, I would probably give up sooner.

eat right and exercise .... "running" isn't all that important ... the total distance you do is however ... walking 4 miles is better than running 2 ... as retarded as it sounds, the amount of energy you expend walking vs running is so negligable that you might as well go for the greatest distance you can achieve in the time you have available ... proof in fact, my friend eats like a pig, works out semi regularly but is still RIPPED cause he walked about 8 miles/day

Ab Bootcamp

This has given great results for my gut! Give it a try. If you stick to it, and supplement it with running / cardio workout, you should be able to get to the shape you want.

Pushups, situps, and lunges do not require weights.
