So I've decided to give myself a little extra time in the course of the day to exercise. (Because my metabolism isn't what it used to be)

I had a question for those out there that do exercise/ know something more about it than I do:

I've got two time spots I could exercise. Right after I wake up, or right after I get off work. (5:30am and 4:30pm respectively) What would you suggest as the best time to exercise? (I'm equally awake at both times)

I think it depends on the person. I workout best in the mornings before I eat, especially if I go running. If i try to run later in the day I just get cramps.

i like to workout in the morning, not because i find it makes me feel better or that i get better results but because it is difficult for me to go consistently after work. sometimes i work late, sometimes there is traffic, sometimes i want to meet up with other people, sometimes i have to watch the kids.

in the mornings, i rarely have any other commitments so i get the best shot of being able to go to the gym.

Well it depends what kind of excercise you are going to be doing, Lifting weights would be done better in the morning because your hormones are crazy in the morning and it is almost like a form of natural steroids, but for cardio any time of the day that you can do it is fine. Also to jump start your metabolism, work out every muscle in your body, your body has to release hormones that spike your metabolism, dont underestimate working out your butt, there are more muscles in your but than in pretty much any other body part, and make sure you eat meat in the morning to kick start your metabo. also, try avoiding eating at times when your body doesnt have enough time to digest it for example before you go to sleep. Try eating more in the morning and less and less till you go to sleep. Maybe start with eating meat in the morning, and keep eating every 3 hrs or so but not too much eat more throughout the day but less per meal.

Thanks ImportDistributors, that seems to be some sound information that goes along with other things I have heard.
