Exercise early in the morning...does it make you feel better during the day?

I've always read that exercising early in the morning helps to set your metabolism for the remainder of the day. I see how that could work, but is it a significant difference, as compared to exercise late in the day after work?

Also, for those who exercise early, do you feel better throughout the day?
 
If your amount of sleep stays constant, yeah you feel better. If you dont get to bed any earlier and yet are sacrificing 45 minutes of sleep to get up early and run... it is about neutral. Though you feel more tired at the end of the work day.
