exercise buffs - what kind of stretching do you do before working out and before running?

does it matter, as long as you just stretch?

well if im running. i do the toe touch, squat on the ground, hold your foot in your hand bending your knee, groin stretch,etc. each for 30 seconds. If Iam lifting, i just do pushups to get the blood circulating

I don't stretch before running or working out. I warm up a bit (if it's a tough workout), but always stretch afterwards. That's what important.
