EXE filetype association (Windows 7)

So EXE files are now associated with 7-Zip rather than with whatever the default is. I was curious, and apparently curiosity kills people too, who knew?

I've found several possible solutions, and was wondering if anyone could suggest that one might actually work (or offer an alternative).

It's open source, which would explain why they'd embed it in Windows for installation files, etc., instead of paying to license WinRAR, WinZip or PKZIP. Note that many zipped installation files are shipped with the extension, [/b].exe[/b], which would explain the association.

Yes, my problem is that now instead of running EXE files, all EXEs are instead unpacked using 7-Zip. I had just wanted to unpack the one EXE

The app didnt make the association, the user did.
