cloned cd's burned as a single file, more than likely a bootleg copy.

Those images of a cd or dvd you use so you can burn the contents on to another media ( or the same type).

Your company must be pretty paranoid. I'd get ransacked for having images of Linux and some Windows installations through MSDN.

images of Software (most likely) ready to be burned to CD. Normally you'd have ISO files if you have downloaded pirated software or if you tend to make copies of your software and save it in your hard drive. But you can also download legal ISOS for different software. Your co-worker is more than likely screwed.

ISO hoooorny.

Either he was stealing software or he had something brought in from home. Naughty, naughty.

Daemon tools allows you to see and use ISO files using a virtual drive to mimic a CD/DVD drive.

Like a CD in your harddrive
Use daemon tools or alcohol 120 to mount it
Most likely illegal

Update and tell us what happens to that guy ;)

Thanks for the info.

Apparently, and the info is still iffy, he had these images of some of our application software on his drive and had installed a DVD/CD burner in is workstation. That's how they found it. When the software/hardware inventory ran over the weekend, like it does every weekend, his machine showed some hardware changes. They looked into it, found the burner, then looked into what was on his machine and found the images. Still not clear on what software it was. I'm not a computer person, but it sounds like it was some of our custom written applications.

They fired him on the spot.

I work for an HMO. They take PC/software security VERY serious here. Have to since we deal with patient information.

Is your mom a member of DAM (Mothers Against Dyslexia)?

Funny, but that is what ISO stands for.
