Excuse me, in English please..

I seriously wonder if people at Taco Bell have to pass a test saying that they can speak English fluently to take orders and to "Understand the words coming out of my mouth." Along with that, know elementary school mathematics Anyhoo, here is the story,

My friends and I went to Taco Bell for an afternoon snack, we decide to order the Grande Meal with only the Nachos Bell Grande. Along with a few drinks and a few assorted sides. I ask her to repeat my order and she does so in half Spanish and half English. Me, not understanding half of the words coming out of her mouth, says "Come again?" Maybe this time I understood her a little more, but I figured I'd just check the receipt to see if she screwed up anything. She tells me the total (in Spanish, thank god I at least know how to count in Spanish), I pay and she gives me the reciept.

I go over the reciept, notices she charged me the normal price for the Nacho's Bell Grande rather than the reduced one because I ordered the Grande Meal. She then talks about how 6 + 4 = 10 pesos, referring to the number of soft tacos and crunchy tacos I ordered. I tell her, "No, I'm talking about the Bell Grande." She then tells me I have to order it all at the same time, I then getting tired of this moron, ask to speak to the Manager. The manager comes over, corrects the price and gives me $.68. I then go, umm, there should be tax on this. She goes, no, we don't charge tax. I show her the reciept and point to the letters on my reciept labelled, "TAX." She then has to go get her manager to give me the corect amount. Which happend to be around $.82 instead of $.68. I personally didn't care about the $.14 but I find it ridicolous that these people can not speak English nor do simple mathematics..

Just frustrates me. Does anyone else hate these morons at Taco Bell?

what's nastier is watching some people not put gloves on their hands before touching your food....just after using the bathroom

hmm I've never had this problem at fast food places, except this one subway where the owners are arabic. But here in NY the only non-Americans are bosnian.

i got tired of the commercial

Run for the toilet............

cause thats what the taco bells in this town have done to me

Happens to me all the times... whenever I'm in Miami, random folks decide to ask me where things are in Spanish. Happens all over the place here hehe. Apparently I look somewhat Hispanic, I never realized this till I moved down south.

I get so frustrated with seeing advertisements in Spanish. While I am thrilled that so many people realize what a great country this is and want to be here, the prevalent language in this country is ENGLISH! I would not move to another country and expect them to cater to me; why should I do the same?

All of this stems from the fact that the US has no official, government recognized language.

Back on Taco Bell, they use Grade D beef. Which means "barely fit for human consumption." This is the stuff canned dog food is made from. I don't eat Taco Bell.

Oh well, Guess we have to DEAL WITH IT EH????

no really, we cant do crap about this so..
=(
just complain to the people that can actually do something about it , like I said tell the manager that having a non english speaking person as a clerk is a bad idea and the stuff your typing here

<< tell the manager to fire her/him because she needs to learn english and not speak spanglish >>

The thing is, everyone there is like that. The manager spoke very broken English. Seriously, perhaps I should get out of California? And what sucks about America is they don't have a National Language. That's why people can take their driving test in Spanish, but when they see a STOP sign, they might not know what it means and go through the crossing.

Ah who cares. It's supposed to be Mexican food , her speaking Spanish gives it a little authenticity.. kind of like Montezuma's Revenge.El Mejicano sabe mejor que comer allí

I don't have a problem with Taco Bell employees as much as I do with stupidity in general. My story relates to this thread in that it happened to occur at a Taco Bell. I was there and the place was packed. No one was at the register, and one of the cooks yelled to the back for someone to man a register. This girl comes swaggering out of the back looking angry that someone would have bothered her. I ordered a beef burrito supreme to go, drove the 30 minutes home, and dscovered that not only had this girl had an attitude, she'd screwed up my order. Stupid me for not checking it before I left, but grrrrr.

On one hand, I agree with the "if you live in America, learn the language" statement. On the other hand, it's somewhat hypocritical. Americans are the biggest bastards about learning a new language when moving to a new country. Notice that when you see all the politicians and whatnot from other countries speaking publicly, they do it in English? We've kinda dominated the market here...

After correcting your go-damned essay a couple of weeks ago, I was sure that engrish was your second language.

This is the pot.
See the pot call the kettle black.

In other words, don't go throwing stones in glass houses, Mr. "Hemingway"

Okay. At least I can speak English fluently.. As in you can understand me. It's not as if I was asking this Taco Bell employee to write an essay.
