My money is on Trump screaming at Sessions once again about his recusal, and perhaps discussing how Sessions might derail the investigation and firing Mueller. Although it would be ridiculously bad optics to fire Mueller for any reason doing so when it's over tax fraud is way worse still. I don't think Sessions would do it and Rosenstein would quit first and another Saturday Night Massacre would be had all over again and just over white collar crime. Might see Vietnam magnitude protests in DC.

There is some suspicion that Dana Boente was forced out of EDVA so Trump could install somebody for that eventuality.

I think this is where Mueller might already be active. If Boente had contact with Trump or a direct subordinate and asked of he would fire Mueller that would be a strong basis for a charge of obstruction, definitely so if he does remove Mueller. Sessions would then be put in the position of suppressing evidence of a serious crime. I don't like Sessions- at all- but he did recuse himself and in doing so demonstrated that there might be something left in the coot which resists doing so.

The best thing the administration can do is absolutely nothing while preparing for eventualities. Can Trump keep quiet about this? Well... :D

I wonder if Sessions has enough of a spine to record this lunch conversation and/or take Comey-like post-talk notes.

Anyone who isn't documenting any and all contact with Trump is a fool. He's already shown he will readily lie about the most trivial things and has no qualms about throwing anyone under the bus to deflect away from himself.

Uh a case was just unsealed where a former Trump campaign aide pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI. This guy:

Three days after Donald Trump named his campaign foreign policy team in March 2016, the youngest of the new advisers sent an email to seven campaign officials with the subject line: “Meeting with Russian Leadership - Including Putin.”

The adviser, George Papadopoulos, offered to set up “a meeting between us and the Russian leadership to discuss US-Russia ties under President Trump,” telling them his Russian contacts welcomed the opportunity, according to internal campaign emails read to The Washington Post.

Just unsealed? That was months ago. At least that story is dated August 14.

From your lips to the President's ears...

I guess the campaign slogan should have been "Hire the Swamp!"

Basically it seems that Papadopoulos concealed the fact that he knew a professor he met with had direct ties to Putin when questioned by the FBI in January.

This guy cut a deal.

Since even his supporters know that every time Trump flaps his lips he is lying (and they love it), a Trump claim that "there is no collusion!" is verified evidence and admission that there was, indeed collusion. Probably the best, bigly collusion.

Does that sound like collusion to you? It sounds like collusion to me.

Yep. Now that people are cutting deals this whole thing might unravel into a game of musical chairs. Which people are going to be left without chairs to sit in when the music stops?

Well that was unexpected. Now we have something linked to the campaign and Papadoculous is going to get squeezed like a lemon under an M1 tank.
