Very interesting choice. He is probably the third lowest hanging fruit (after Manafort and Flynn) and you are right-this will bring enormous pressure on Flynn. That's typically the way prosecutors do these things in a conspiracy case-grab a little guy, squeeze by the nads until he sings out on someone higher. The possibility of presidential pardons (and more particularly pardons that won't put the entire country in an unroar as Trump's base will excuse anything) lessens the prosecutors' leverage here.

Yeppers. Federal prosecutors can be very persuasive. They'll sit you down with your lawyer, lay out their case & offer you a deal you can't refuse. Chances of winning are slim, even if you have a few extra $M laying around for legal fees. The $M's only matter if they don't RICO you first. They'll break your balls off. It's their job, and they like to do it well.
