Gonna wait and see how this shakes out before I get excited. Too ambiguous at this point. "someone could be in custody by Monday"

So I'm going to try and have a lucid dream, It will be the FBI agents charge into the white house to the room Trumps sleeping in and and wrestle the phone out of his hands as he's trying to tweet and arrest him and charge him with treason.

It could be someone relatively low on the food chain and while I'd love to see criminal charges brought against high level players I have some faith in Muellers intelligence and tactics. Starting at the bottom could make sense in that once the "Oh shit this is for real" kick in then going to jail for a political purpose might not seem a good idea. Plea deal and spill your guts. Rinse, repeat as necessary.

Not saying that's the case, but if it were some junior functionary I would be inclined to believe that is what it would be about. Trump and Hannity are in a panic along with many Republicans as evidenced by the uranium "scandal" this past week. I'd by suprised but not unhappy if it were Jr. being brought in.

Now Trump would have to do one of three things in that case. He could just scream and yell. He could fire Mueller (don't say he can't because who is going to prevent a President from doing so?) and he could pardon Jr right off. Of course he could do all three if he wanted.

Even by Trumpian standards this is likely to get really weird.

I've been occasionally flipping channels over to FOX to see how they're handling this news about the upcoming indictments and I may be wrong up to this point because I was only spot checking, but it seems like FOX does not consider the upcoming indictments as anything newsworthy up to this point. lol

To be fair, Reuters news hadn't even published anything on it until ~10:30 at night - and that was just a written article (2 paragraphs) on their site.

I heard that from some NY Prosecutor guy. He said it's best to start at the bottom to put pressure on people to offer testimony for protection from prosecution

It has definitely seemed that conservative media has stepped up the attacks on Mueller’s imaginary conflicts of interest in this case. I imagine they are doing so in case Trump feels like he has to try and fire Mueller to protect himself from something catastrophic. The worse the investigation gets, the more stories on conservative media you will see about this.

And yes, that is utterly disgusting not only from a moral perspective but it’s also a danger to democracy.

Thankfully, even most Republican politicians know that firing Mueller without concrete evidence of wrongdoing would make the uproar over Comey seem trivial by comparison. Not that this would stop Trump from firing Mueller, because he's incredibly short-sighted and only cares about himself, but he probably won't get much support for it from the GOP.

That's always the way of corruption & racketeering investigations. First rat gets the cheese.

How is it possible charges were laid? This whole thing is a nothingburger, fake news and an excuse for losing a tremendous election. Now there are charges? Trump said this was all a witch hunt?
I would seem that the nothing burger is riding on a tsunami of evidence.:D

Trump’ twitter account has pretty much gone quiet. This tends to happen when real bad news is about to surface.

The nut job surrogates are hovever fully deployed and spouting off the craziest shit you can imagine. Lewandowski said the real investigation should be focused on the Clinton Administration....

Trump doesn't eat lobsters. He eats steak well-done with ketchup on the side. No joke.

Damn! I like having my steak with a side of ketchup too (a result of eating boiled steak in the military one too many times). Does that now also make me a Trumpster deplorable? ;)

Agreed, I'm prepared for disappointment

So am I.

Like the saying goes: "To catch the big fish you need to catch the little ones first and use them as bait". With that in mind, I'm thinking Flynn is the first of many to get hooked and thrown in the cooler.

Remember when they announced that Mueller had switched his investigation to DNC lobbyists? Remember when I said the case would now start to move quickly because the targets were no longer the President or any of his associates?

Watch them come down with indictments of DNC lobbyists. The grand jury was convened in Virginia. If they were going after Trump or his kids or his friends it would be a New York grand jury. Virginia is what you would use to indict DNC lobbyists.

I can't believe how gullible you people are. Your love affair with Mueller will soon sour.
The rails.. you've gone off them.

It makes you a monster.

Yep, I knew it. I guess I'm going to have to turn myself in and enter some kind of intervention session for myself because I'm already starting to like the way Trump barfs up that now familiar "Fake Russia!!! Fake Media!!" ;)

i told you that shit was a ruse. Watch.

I hope you're right. IDK... I just can't help being cynical about any sort of "justice" coming from the US court system. There have been so many recent examples of certain well-connected people getting away with murder (equifax?) and of totally innocent people being shafted by the US justice system for political gain (hillary?).

Do you really think in 1 week he would be filling charges against a dem? No way.

Last I knew this was a story that no other news organization beside CNN has been able to confirm. CNN claims to have two independent sources but doesn't report anything of substance beyond the headline. As far as the charges being made public Monday, last I knew that was purely a matter of pundits' conjecture.

Mueller has a top notch, experienced team that is about as leak proof as anything in Washington can be. Plus we are talking about charges issued by a grand jury and currently under seal by a court, very leak proof in normal circumstances. I'm suspicious of this story, especially as it seems to me to be early for charges to be brought.

OTOH the Trump administration and lackeys have certainly ramped up their level of BS and deflection in the last few days, so maybe they do know something is going to happen.

Personally I'm going to wait to see what happens and when.
